Spread of farm equipment

As the primeval forest was opened and the cultivated land expanded, horse plowing using plows and harrow became widespread.
A small ironworks was built in Onobunai in the early Showa period(Showa period：1926-1989) to make wood carriers and hoe. While repairing plows requested by farmers, the factory began to make original plows. It gained popularity, the ironworks became Fukushima Agricultural Equipment, and the “Fukushima-style plow” made its name known all over the country.
The improvement and dissemination of farm equipment was the result of wisdom and blood sweat of farmers and craftsmen through the soil.

農機具の普及

　原生林が開かれ、耕地が広がると、プラウ（西洋型の犂）、ハロー（砕土機）を使用する馬耕が普及していった。
　昭和初頭の雄信内に、木材運搬具や鍬をつくる小さな鉄工場ができた。農家に頼まれたプラウの修理をするうちに、自ら工夫をかさねたプラウをつくるようになった。それが評判をよび、鉄工場は福島農機具製作所となり、「福島式プラウ」は全道、全国にその名をひびかせた。
　農機具の改良、普及は、土を介した農民と職人の知恵と汗の結晶であった
