Explanation of the model

This model is modeled after ruins of the Teshio estuary baseline, and shows a lifestyle of the village during the Satsumon period. The dwelling is a pit type and features having four pillars and a kamado. People hunted deer, salmon, trout, and gathered edible wild plants. They also produced a small amount of grains and beans. It is presumed that the location of the village faces the Tōutsunai River instead of the Teshio River in order to avoid a sea breeze.

模型の解説

　この模型は天塩川口基線遺跡をモデルとして、擦文時代の集落のくらしぶりをあらわしたものである。住居は竪穴式で、四本柱、かまどなどを特徴としている。住民は、鹿や鮭・鱒類、山菜類の狩猟・採集と共に、わずかながら穀物、豆類を作っていた。集落の位置が天塩川ではなくて、トーウツナイ川のほうに面しているのは、海風を避けるためと想定される。
